Hi D, That error can suggest a few things, if you are using a 64 bit version then run ODBCADM32.exe in the c: windows syswow64 folder, or from the Start search line type in odbc and you'll see the 32-bit ODBC. Install the 32 bit version if your app is going to running in 32 bit mode. Not sure if SQL 2005 has a 64 bit client. If all of the above is done or confirmed the client is installed use Process Monitor, again available from Microsoft downloads/tools and when your app tries to connect look at the logs for either access denied or missing dependencies. Another possibility is your DB server is not in a trusted domain, or the same domain your PC or app is running in. Try pinging the DB Server to verify you can connect.

You could also install the SQL Server Management Studio to verify you have access, it uses OLE DB to connect but the important part is network access. To set up your DSN simply Click on the System DSN tab, Add and browse to the bottom of the list and you'll see SQL Server.
